our fabrics
A sustainable life is not an option for us, and that is why we have made these fabrics the protagonists of KOTOI. Only one in three garments produced is inhabited. The rest remain in a wait that never ends: in a large warehouse, to later end up incinerated or hidden under the earth of a plot of land from which flowers and trees will not be able to grow. To avoid encouraging this type of consumption, we have opted for reduced, on-demand production, being respectful and consistent with every stitch we make.
We offer a continuous collection to which we add designs from time to time. We defend the repetition of clothing as ritual. Moving away from the craving and compulsive and unnecessary purchasing in which fast fashion and trends immerse us without realizing it. In repetition we find identity, and that is what builds and accompanies us as humans. Objects are companions in our lives, and therefore, we have to create them with attention, care and respect, and consume and care for them in the same way.
The textile we intervene in mostly comes from leftover pieces that accumulate after making large productions for other companies. This material is called deadstock , and we welcome it with appreciation in our workshop to give an opportunity and a useful life to the fabric that already exists.
We received it from Evlox, a national company specializing in cotton denim for 178 years. Some pieces arrive with small flaws that we manage to avoid without effort, and others give us hidden codes stamped on the back, which does not change the quality or natural appearance of the textile at all. We can also count on variants in our fabrics from time to time and sometimes find slight changes in tone or thickness with each group of textiles that we cover, which we always inform once the purchase is made.
We also work with suppliers such as Recovo, who put us in contact with other national companies that carefully store a variety of leftover fabrics in their warehouses. In this way, we have the opportunity to expand our family of compositions and material characteristics while remaining faithful to our philosophy when working in the fashion area.
We make our garments with our hands and with the hands of the people around us (local and national).
We design by launching a more careful alternative for our wardrobe and our cities.
